The Valley Humane League will be having an adoption day meet and greet event on Saturday, July 1st from 10 AM until 2 PM at Big R in Alamosa. Stop by anytime to meet some adorable and adoptable dogs! This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Valley Humane League from dedicated volunteers while cuddling some cute pups. This is also a great time to drop off any donations you would like to give to the animal shelter like extra leashes, collars, toys, dog treats etc.
Big R is located at 148 Craft Drive next to City Market. For more information you can contact Diana Hamilton at 719-580-4014.
Valley Humane League will be bringing dogs to the 2017 Summerfest on the Rio June 2nd-4th at Cole Park! Come meet some adoptable pups and learn more about the shelter. The proceeds from the 5th annual poker run will also benefit the Valley Humane League. More info here: http://summerfestontherio.org/
Join us this Saturday, May 13th at 9:30 AM to build a play yard for the Valley Humane League dogs! We will be creating a fenced in area at the shelter where dogs can run and play freely with volunteers. We need all the help we can get! If you have any questions call Diana at 719-580-4014.
Here is some more information on the importance of play-yards and dog enrichment at dog shelters.
Dell's Insurance Agency is graciously hosting an auction event benefiting the Valley Humane League and our efforts to build a new shelter. See the poster below for more info on the May 6th event:
Valley Humane League will have its first adoption day at Big R on Saturday, April 15th. Shopper and folks from the community can come meet adoptable dogs and if one wins their hearts adoption applications are available to fill out! An application review and adoption interview at the shelter is required before taking any dogs home (so unfortunately no one will be leaving Big R with a new dog!). This is a test run for meet & greet events, so if all goes well we will be bringing dogs to Big R more often! Contact us if you'd like to to host a meet & greet event.
The Rubi Slipper hosted a benefit for the Valley Humane League on Saturday, February 4th. We raised exactly $15,000 at the event...you read that right--FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS. Board members and staff of VHL were shocked when they heard that number, and started brainstorming right away with what that money will bring Valley Humane League: saving for future expenses so VHL stays afloat, paying back some money owed to generous people who have kept VHL afloat in the past, starting to plan a new play yard for the dogs, and more! We also received 1000 pounds on donated dog food--yes, ONE THOUSAND POUNDS, and 45 dog beds! Everyone at the Valley Humane League would like to send a huge THANK YOU to The Rubi Slipper and everyone who donated or came out to support the shelter. We are so grateful to live in this community.
